Cory (he/him) is a musician who balances his practice between musics of many forms: as a composer, experimental rock musician, or cellist. Cory currently splits his time between Toronto and the Netherlands, where he is doing a Masters in Composition at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague.
Cory’s composition envisages the style/genre "Acid-Subtilier" in which psychedelic and historical influences broaden the horizons of now in as an alternative to anxious and claustrophobic capitalist temporalities. The music plays with delicate densities and fragile tone that carefully dismantle semiotic melodic structures and encourage careful listening and performer vulnerability.
Cory is the band leader of Jelly Ear, a creatively open early-music music group. Playing the rebec, a medieval fiddle, he is joined by a rotating cast of Toronto’s creative musicians.
He has previously recorded and toured with his bands Clarinet Panic and Imaginary Flesh.
